ScamRat - Where Help
Where to find the item you are looking forTo search the ScamRat database, you need to locate a domain, phone number, email address or social media username. Once you have located these you need to copy and paste them into the search box after selecting the desired search method. Below is a list of instructions of where to find each search condition for the desired search method.

In the Domain / Website search box, you enter in a domain name, for example www.scamwebsite.com or just scamwebsite.com. You can even copy what is directly in your web browsers address bar e.g. https://wwww.scamwebsite.com.
After going to the scam website, you can copy the domain name by clicking on the URL at the top of the address bar, highlighting the text and then right clicking on the text and clicking the copy link. You have now copied the domain to your clipboard. (in this example we are using the ScamRat website, but you would use the scam sites domain to check)
Now all you need to do is paste the link into the search box, to do this right click on the ScamRat text box and click paste.
You can now click the Check button to check the website.
ScamRat allows you to search for phone numbers that other's have added and rated. When adding a phone number, you need to enter in the international area code. So for example you would enter in +1 (for the US) and then the spam phone number. This phone number can be used for both mobile and landline calling.
Click the Phone button, enter in the phone number and then click the Check button.
A matching phone number will be located and then display other users that may have encountered this spam phone number.
ScamRat allows you to search for email addresses that have come from potential scammers. Simply enter in the email address of the scammer and then click the Check button.
ScamRat allows you to search for usernames in Facebook that may have been used to scam people.
To find the username in Facebook;
When using a web browser on a desktop, you can view the username as the last part after the facebook.com (the.username) in this example.
When using the app, you can get the username by clicking on the user's profile, clicking on the 3 dots (...) and then seeing the profile link at the bottom of the page. The username is after the https://www.facebook.com/<username> part highlighted below.
In Instagram, you can find the username by clicking on the 3 dots next to the user's post.
Then click on 'About this account'
You can now see the username below their logo. (Note, This BMW New Zealand is not a scam account)
To find a TikTok username, click on their profile. Their username is after the @ part, so in this example the username will be vanhishikab
